Job Posting: Canadian Workplace Experience (CWE) Liaison: Winter Session
Closing date: November 26, 2013 - 4:00 pm CST
- This position is an 80 hour contract position beginning in December 2013 and ending in February 2014
DUTIES:
Program Delivery:
- Represent The CWE Program and University of Winnipeg to prospective students and employers
- Assess student needs and interests as they relate to volunteer work placements
- Recruit organizations to participate as CWE volunteer work placement opportunities
- Determine suitable CWE students and employer partnerships
- Monitor and report on the status of student volunteer work placements on a weekly basis
- Counsel and aid students with concerns for the duration of CWE program
- Deliver classroom instruction and job-readiness workshop instruction if required
- Report to and communicate with the Program Coordinator, providing regular CWE program updates
- Attend all scheduled program meetings and student orientations
- Complete a final report on the program, including suggestions for future CWE programs
Program Promotion:
- Be the local “point of contact” for students and employers regarding inquiries related to the CWE Program
- Market the CWE program to potential organizations using email, telephone and personal selling
- Cultivate new partnerships with local businesses to accept CWE students into their workplace in volunteer positions
QUALIFICATIONS - Candidate should meet the following requirements:
- Possess strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Possess an outstanding professional attitude & excellent communication skills
- Be able to take initiative and work well autonomously
- Be willing to commit to the full duration of the work assignment
- Possess basic computer proficiency including all MS Office Suite applications
- Be willing to accept other program duties as assigned
- Be able to effectively handle exceptional situations and manage crisis situations
- Have experience working with international students and/or international exchange programs
- ESL certification or recent graduate of a TESL-accredited program considered an asset
